Fascist Reign

Southasia - - EDITOR’S MAIL -

The article, ‘The Path of Fascism’ proved to be a real eye-opener as it provided a no-holds-barred look at how democracy was stifled in Bangladesh and how the people of country are forced to suffer at the hands of political leaders who are unable to see beyond their vested interests. I am a student of political science and, during my studies, I have come across numerous cases similar to such circumstances. Yet, it never ceases to amaze me how some people, who claim to be sons and daughters of the soil, can prove to be so ruthless and selfish.

What saddens me is that, in the end, the true sufferers of this entire mess turn out to be the citizens of the country. They are the ones who have to bear with catastrophic decisions and actions of the parties in power. One can only hope that things will eventually get better.
