Ger­man au­to­mo­bile man­u­fac­turer Volk­swa­gen has de­cided to set up an auto as­sem­bling plant in Pak­istan. A 14-mem­ber busi­ness del­e­ga­tion of Ger­many vis­ited Pak­istan re­cently, in­clud­ing Volk­swa­gen rep­re­sen­ta­tives. Busi­ness rep­re­sen­ta­tives have shown in­ter­est in set­ting up an assem­bly unit in Pak­istan to man­u­fac­ture and in­tro­duce a range of auto brands in the mar­ket. Volk­swa­gen is the sec­ond largest auto man­u­fac­turer in the world in terms of in­ter­na­tional trade vol­umes and mar­ket share. The gov­ern­ment in Pak­istan is also re­vis­ing its ex­ist­ing auto pol­icy to en­cour­age in­ter­na­tional car man­u­fac­tur­ers to set up their man­u­fac­tur­ing units in the coun­try.
