Southasia - - BRIEFS -

UK has quadrupled the number of Chevening scholars from Pakistan to offer more opportunities for postgraduate studies at leading universities in the United Kingdom. In 2014, only 17 students from Pakistan were offered Chevening scholarships, but this year 73 students from Pakistan have been selected for the programme, making it the biggest increase in the number of Chevening scholars from anywhere in the world. An international scholarship, Chevening is funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. It provides learning opportunities to outstanding students from all over the world to develop academically and professionally in different subjects such as business, good governance, energy, democracy, conflict resolution, innovation, public services, regional co-operation and security studies.
