world’s third largest man­u­fac­turer of mo­tor­cy­cles and au­to­mo­bile bat­ter­ies, Ja­pan’s GS Yuasa In­ter­na­tional is about to start pro­duc­tion at the Chit­tagong-based ‘Ja­pan So­larTech’ in­dus­trial zone. A joint ven­ture be­tween Ja­pan and Bangladesh, zone has in­vested $15 mil­lion to set up a pro­duc­tion unit to make 30,000 au­to­mo­tive bat­ter­ies per month. Yuasa will be the first Ja­panese bat­tery to be made in Bangladesh and will meet a de­mand of 1.8 mil­lion bat­ter­ies ev­ery year. GS Yuasa has 34 fac­to­ries in 19 coun­tries.

SRI LANKA

Bangladesh will be the first coun­try where the Ja­panese’s com­pany is trans­fer­ring its com­plete tech­nol­ogy.
