parliament house in Islamabad has become the first such institution in the world to run on solar power. The parliament house’s solar panels generate a total of 80 MW of electric power, supplying 18 MW to the national grid. The solar power plant cost around $55 million, which was funded by China as an act of friendship. The venture was launched during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan last year. There are some other parliament houses in the world that are partly run on solar power. However, the Pakistan parliament house is first to run entirely on solar power.
