Com­bat­ing Un­em­ploy­ment

pro­mote ap­pren­tice­ship in the Pun­jab prov­ince, the Tech­ni­cal Ed­u­ca­tion and Vo­ca­tional Train­ing Au­thor­ity will re­cruit 65,000 ap­pren­tices in 2016, com­pared to 28,000 ap­pren­tices re­cruited in 2015. The strength of ap­pren­tices at TEVTA has reached 41,574. An ini­tia­tive taken by the Pun­jab Gov­ern­ment to com­bat un­em­ploy­ment, the Ap­pren­tice­ship Scheme pro­vides skill- based train­ing to youth un­der 28. Some 1985 in­dus­tries have been ap­proached for im­ple­men­ta­tion of the ap­pren­tice­ship pro­gramme and ef­forts are be­ing car­ried out to bring the max­i­mum num­ber of in­dus­tries un­der the scheme.
