Floating Schools

Southasia - - BRIEFS -

To provide uninterrupted education, even during the rainy season, solar-powered floating schools serve Bangladesh with primary education – a world first. Since 2002, more than 70,000 children have benefited from the schools. A smart combination of school bus and schoolhouse, the floating schools collect students from riverside villages, dock at a fixed point and later take students back to their homes. Providing primary education up to grade IV, each boat school can take up to 30 students. Each boat school has a library, an Internetlinked laptop and other electronic resources.
