Ter­mi­na­tor Train

Apub­lic health ini­tia­tive taken to curb mos­quito breed­ing, the North­ern Rail­way of In­dia, in as­so­ci­a­tion with the South Delhi Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (SDMC), has started a spe­cial 'Mos­quito Ter­mi­na­tor Train' to spray in­sec­ti­cide on water bod­ies along the tracks in Delhi. Mounted on a wagon, the train has a power sprayer truck, which can sani­tise in­ac­ces­si­ble ar­eas from a dis­tance of 50-60 me­tres. Mov­ing at a speed of 20 kilo­me­tres per hour, it cov­ers a dis­tance of some 150 kilo­me­tres in each cycle. At an in­ter­val of two weeks, four rounds of spray­ing are car­ried out ev­ery month.
