In Ker­ala, as many as 10,000 pri­mary and sec­ondary schools have been pro­vided free Wi-Fi in­ter­net. Be­ing termed as the start­ing point of ICT in­fra­struc­ture upgra­da­tion in the school­ing sys­tem, the IT@School Project, an ini­tia­tive of the Ker­ala state gov­ern­ment, has been pro­vid­ing free broad­band in­ter­net con­nec­tions to schools and ed­u­ca­tional of­fices, cov­er­ing more than 15,000 con­nec­tions through­out the state. This year, lower pri­mary schools in Ker­ala will get the new ICT text­books pre­pared on Edu­tain­ment plat­form 'Kalipetti' (Play Box). Un­der the ini­tia­tive, pri­mary schools will also re­ceive a com­pre­hen­sive Dig­i­tal Con­tent Col­lec­tion.
