Southasia - - BRIEFS -

In India, the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is setting up two solar storage plants with a total capacity of 25 megawatts at Port Blair, the capital city of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, located in the Bay of Bengal, India. Setting up large-sized solar power plants will help generate sufficient power to supply to remote locations that use diesel-generated electricity, a major source of pollution in the area. Under the government’s anti-pollution drive, the NTPC will set up 50 solar plants across the country by June 2018.
