Nepal Telecom (NIT), the state-owned telecom service provider in Nepal, has launched the fourth generation (4G) telecommunication service in the country in January, 2017. In July 2016 last year, the Nepal government amended the national radio frequency policy to allow telecom operators to introduce 4G services in the country. Currently, there are six telecom operators in Nepal. Nepal Telecom (NT) is the first company to receive permission from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) to offer 4G services. Initially, the service has been started in Kathmandu and Pokhara and will soon be expanded to other areas of the country.
