In 2017, the gov­ern­ment of Bangladesh is go­ing to dis­trib­ute over 360 mil­lion text­books to more than 40 mil­lion stu­dents of pri­mary and sec­ondary schools, ebte­dayee (el­e­men­tary), dakhil madrasas (sem­i­nary ed­u­ca­tion) and poly­tech­nic in­sti­tu­tions across the coun­try. The Bangladesh Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion will also pro­vide pre-pri­mary text­books to some 25,000 chil­dren from eth­nic com­mu­ni­ties writ­ten in such lead­ing eth­nic lan­guages as Garo, Sadri, Tripura, Marm and Chakma. Un­der the ini­tia­tive, more than 9,000 Braille books will be given to vis­ually im­paired stu­dents free of cost.
