‘Angootha Chaap’

Southasia - - BRIEFS -

The Indian government has introduced ‘Aadhaar Pay.’ This is the merchant version of the Aadhaar-enabled payment system (AEPS), which was introduced last year to provide subsidised food and services to poor families by assigning them a unique identity numbers, called Aadhaar numbers. Ensuring financial inclusion of all segments of the population, the newly-launched Aadhaar Pay is an alternative for a password for PIN-based transactions and works on any Androidbased phone with an attached biometric device. Through the app-based facility, merchants receive cashless payments from customers who are only required to give their fingerprints to authenticate their identity.
