The Gov­ern­ment of Pak­istan is is­su­ing a com­mem­o­ra­tive coin worth Rs. 50 in hon­our of late hu­man­i­tar­ian Dr. Ruth Pfau, Pak­istan’s Mother Teresa, who passed away in Au­gust at the age of 88. Born in Ger­many, Dr. Ruth Pfau moved to Pak­istan in the 1960s and de­voted her re­main­ing life to fighting lep­rosy. She con­trib­uted in set­ting up over 155 lep­rosy clin­ics that pro­vided lep­rosy treat­ment to more than 56 thou­sand peo­ple across the coun­try. In recog­ni­tion of her ser­vices, she was awarded ‘Si­tara-I-Quaid-I-Azam’, ‘Hi­lal-IIm­tiaz’, ‘Hi­lal-I-Pak­istan’ and ‘Nis­han-I-Quaid-i-Azam.’ The Sindh Gov­ern­ment has re­named the Civil Hospi­tal, Karachi af­ter Dr. Pfau.
