Sem­i­nar on Pak­istan Ro­ma­nia Bi­lat­eral Re­la­tions

The Diplo­matic In­sight in col­lab­o­ra­tion with School of Pol­i­tics and In­ter­na­tional Re­la­tions or­ga­nized a Sem­i­nar on “Pak­istan Ro­ma­nia Bi­lat­eral Re­la­tions”, on April 4, 2012, at the premises of the School of Pol­i­tics and In­ter­na­tional Re­la­tions, Quaid-e-azam Univer­sity, Islamabad. In the open­ing of his speech, H.E. Mr. Emil­ian Ion, Am­bas­sador of Ro­ma­nia to Pak­istan un­der­lined the his­tor­i­cal and friendly na­ture of the re­la­tion be­tween the two states (which es­tab­lished diplo­matic re­la­tions in 1964) and re­it­er­ated Ro­ma­nia'swish of­work­ing to­gether with the Pak­istani part­ners, at all lev­els, in or­der to pro­mote and con­sol­i­date the bi­lat­eral co­op­er­a­tion in the po­lit­i­cal, eco­nomic / trade, cul­tural and other fields. The En­voy pre­sented to the au­di­ence some facts and fig­ures re­gard­ing the Ro­ma­nian econ­omy, un­der­lin­ing the op­por­tu­ni­ties pro­vided by Ro­ma­nia (the largest mar­ket in the South­East­ern Europe) and ob­serv­ing the un­ex­plored trade po­ten­tial that can be ex­plored by the two sides. H.E. Mr. Emil­ian Ion expressed his con­vic­tion that, the Pak­istani and Ro­ma­nian busi­ness com­mu­ni­ties should take ad­van­tage of the huge op­por­tu­ni­ties of­fered by the na­tional economies, and that the con­tin­u­a­tion of the ef­forts to boost the bi­lat­eral re­la­tions at all lev­els and in all fields is very nec­es­sary in the in­ter­est of both coun­tries.

The Ro­ma­ni­anam­bas­sador stressed the

im­por­tance of mix­ing the eco­nomic and trade co­op­er­a­tion with cul­tural ex­changes, pre­sent­ing a few as­pects re­gard­ing Ro­ma­nia's his­tory and tra­di­tions. The Ed­u­ca­tional sys­tem and op­por­tu­ni­ties for Pak­istani stu­dentswas also pre­sented in de­tail.

Mr. Asif Noor, Chief Ed­i­tor, The Diplo­matic In­sight, af­ter wel­com­ing the guests high­lighted the ob­jec­tives of mag­a­zine which rests on “Peace Through In­formed Di­a­logue”. While in­tro­duc­ing the pub­li­ca­tion, Mr. Asif Noor said that through the dy­nam­ics of Me­dia Di­plo­macy and Peace, the mag­a­zine as a lead­ing in­sti­tute, is ded­i­cated to pro­vide neu­tral and ob­jec­tive re­search and anal­y­sis. The mag­a­zine is not only pub­lish­ing books, re­search and an­a­lyt­i­cal re­ports, sup­ple­ments and news­let­ters but also or­ga­nize sem­i­nars, work­shops, con­fer­ences, round­table di­a­logues and pro­duce doc­u­men­taries on var­i­ous is­sues like in­ter­faith har­mony, di­a­logue among civ­i­liza­tions, cul­tural di­plo­macy, re­li­gions, peace, ex­trem­ism, dy­nam­ics of var­i­ous con­flicts, in­ter­na­tional re­la­tions and do­mes­tic pol­i­tics. He said this sem­i­nar is a con­tin­u­a­tion of the ex­cel­lent col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Em­bassy of Ro­ma­nia in Islamabad, af­ter or­ga­niz­ing an­other sim­i­lar ac­tiv­ity, in De­cem­ber 2011, at then­ational Li­brary of Pak­istan. In the clos­ing of sem­i­nar, Prof.dr. Lubna Abid Ali, Di­rec­tor, School of Pol­i­tics and In­ter­na­tional Stud­ies, expressed her vote of thanks to the guests and au­di­ence.
