Seminar on Pakistan Romania Bilateral Relations
The Diplomatic Insight in collaboration with School of Politics and International Relations organized a Seminar on “Pakistan Romania Bilateral Relations”, on April 4, 2012, at the premises of the School of Politics and International Relations, Quaid-e-azam University, Islamabad. In the opening of his speech, H.E. Mr. Emilian Ion, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan underlined the historical and friendly nature of the relation between the two states (which established diplomatic relations in 1964) and reiterated Romania'swish ofworking together with the Pakistani partners, at all levels, in order to promote and consolidate the bilateral cooperation in the political, economic / trade, cultural and other fields. The Envoy presented to the audience some facts and figures regarding the Romanian economy, underlining the opportunities provided by Romania (the largest market in the SouthEastern Europe) and observing the unexplored trade potential that can be explored by the two sides. H.E. Mr. Emilian Ion expressed his conviction that, the Pakistani and Romanian business communities should take advantage of the huge opportunities offered by the national economies, and that the continuation of the efforts to boost the bilateral relations at all levels and in all fields is very necessary in the interest of both countries.
The Romanianambassador stressed the
importance of mixing the economic and trade cooperation with cultural exchanges, presenting a few aspects regarding Romania's history and traditions. The Educational system and opportunities for Pakistani studentswas also presented in detail.
Mr. Asif Noor, Chief Editor, The Diplomatic Insight, after welcoming the guests highlighted the objectives of magazine which rests on “Peace Through Informed Dialogue”. While introducing the publication, Mr. Asif Noor said that through the dynamics of Media Diplomacy and Peace, the magazine as a leading institute, is dedicated to provide neutral and objective research and analysis. The magazine is not only publishing books, research and analytical reports, supplements and newsletters but also organize seminars, workshops, conferences, roundtable dialogues and produce documentaries on various issues like interfaith harmony, dialogue among civilizations, cultural diplomacy, religions, peace, extremism, dynamics of various conflicts, international relations and domestic politics. He said this seminar is a continuation of the excellent collaboration with the Embassy of Romania in Islamabad, after organizing another similar activity, in December 2011, at thenational Library of Pakistan. In the closing of seminar, Prof.dr. Lubna Abid Ali, Director, School of Politics and International Studies, expressed her vote of thanks to the guests and audience.
