20th Anniversary of "Turkmenistan's Policy Permanent Neutrality"
President of Turkmenistan Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov delivered a speech during an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen leader noted that today Turkmenistan was one of the authoritative states in the world that had earned the respect of the international community. “According to the level of security and sustainable development, our country ranks among the leading places in the region. Having chosen its sovereign foreign-policy course, neutral Turkmenistan is policy remain unchangeable. Among them are creation of the favourable external conditions for internal development, strengthening the independence and security, development of economy as well as increase of the wellbeing and quality of life of the Turkmen people”, the President noted.
“Turkmenistan continues to contribute to the development with the aim to expand the trade and economic cooperation as well as humanitarian relations with neighboring countries”.
“We have many new important tasks for the next year. In our country, the year of 2015 was declared as the Year of Neutrality and Peace. This decision imposes the Embassies and consular departments of Turkmenistan, the permanent representations of our country at international organizations with greater responsibilities and sets extremely important tasks to them. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, our ambassadors and consuls should popularize and reveal the great importance of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan all over the world”, said the President of Turkmenistan giving a number of instructions in this regard.
The Turkmen leader also underlined the necessity to enhance the traditionally friendly relations with our close neighbours, including China, the Russian Federation, and the United States.
The President noted that cooperation between our country and the European Union also gave good results.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan should widen the diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the countries of South and Central America.
“We should thoroughly analyze the opportunities of cooperation with African countries”, continued the Turkmen leader.
The President instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to appoint our Ambassadors in foreign countries as well as to draft a plan of opening diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad for 2015-2017.
Speaking about the humanitarian cooperation and the sphere of education in particular, the Turkmen leader instructed the foreign-policy agency of our country to draft a programme of organizing and holding the events aimed at wide coverage of the preparations for the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games the will be held in Ashgabat in 2017 in Turkmenistan and foreign states.
In conclusion of his Address, the Turkmen leader noted that the meeting was held on the eve of the big national holiday – the Neutrality Day. On December 12, 1995, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Resolution on Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan. The day of December 12 – Neutrality Day was inscribed in the history of the independent Turkmen state with golden letters.
“I strongly believe that our neutral state that pursues a peace-loving foreign policy based on the mutual trust, equal relations and fruitful cooperation, will continue developing friendship and mutually agreed relations with all countries and peoples in the world!” said the President of Turkmenistan during an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country.
