ECP initiates work on LB polls
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) have started working on delimitation of local bodies elections whereas a report on the steps taken for local bodies elections has been submitted in Supreme Court (SC) on Friday.
According to details, ECP has started trainings of district officials regarding Punjab and Sindh delimitation that would be continued till second week of January.
However, delimitation notification and verified maps of union councils at ward-level have also been sought from Punjab and Sindh governments.
Apprising the SC of preparations for local government polls, the ECP further said that the training process will conclude in second week of January 2015, adding that committees have been constituted for purchase of material required for delimitation work.
Following legislation in Sindh and Punjab, the ECP has now been empowered to draw new electoral boundaries on UC and ward level. NNI
