Ce­ment ex­ports up 4pc to $269 mil­lion in 1H

IS­LAM­ABAD: The ce­ment ex­ports from the coun­try wit­nessed an in­crease of 3.99 per­cent dur­ing first half of cur­rent fis­cal year as com­pared to the cor­re­spond­ing pe­riod of last year.

The ex­ports dur­ing the pe­riod un­der re­view were recorded at $268.699 mil­lion com­pared to the ex­ports of $258.4 mil­lion in July-De­cem­ber (2013-14), ac­cord­ing to the lat­est data of Pak­istan Bu­reau of Statis­tics (PBS).

Sim­i­larly gems ex­ports also surged by 52.12 per­cent dur­ing the pe­riod July-De­cem­ber 2014-15 against same pe­riod of last year.

The ex­ports of gems were recorded $4.53 mil­lion dur­ing the pe­riod un­der re­view as com­pared to that of $2.978 mil­lion dur­ing July-De­cem­ber 2013-14.

The ex­ports of fur­ni­ture dur­ing the pe­riod also in­creased from $3.519 mil­lion to $3.709 mil­lion dur­ing same pe­riod of last year thus show­ing an in­crease of 5.4 per­cent.

The ex­ports of jew­elry how­ever plunged by 98.09 per­cent dur­ing July-De­cem­ber 2014-15 as it went down from $218.817 mil­lion last year to $4.184 mil­lion this year.

The mo­lasses ex­ports also de­creased by 56.85 per­cent from $15.399 mil­lion in Ju­lyDe­cem­ber 2014-13 to $6.798 mil­lion this year. Sim­i­larly the hand­i­crafts
