ATC remands Faisal Raza Abidi to police custody for two days
ISLAMABAD: The AntiTerrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has handed over Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader and former Senator Faisal Raza Abidi to police on two-day physical remand Thursday.
Earlier, police had arrested Abidi from Supreme Court premises after his appearance in a contempt of court case on Wednesday.
Abidi had been held in a case registered at secretariat police station against him. The case had been registered under section 780-A involving abetment, terrorism charges on complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shaukat.
On the other hand, Islamabad High Court ( IHC) also has rejected Faisal Raza Abidi's plea to dismiss the contempt of court case registered against him over ridiculing Chief Justice of Pakistan and anti- judiciary remarks in media.
The ex-senator was on bail till Oct 11 in the instant case in Supreme Court over use of derogatory language about Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar and anti-judiciary remarks on TV channels.
Faisal Raza Abidi is also booked in a cyber crime case. - NNI
