ATC re­mands Faisal Raza Abidi to po­lice cus­tody for two days

IS­LAM­ABAD: The An­tiTer­ror­ism Court (ATC) in Is­lam­abad has handed over Pak­istan Peo­ple's Party (PPP) leader and former Sen­a­tor Faisal Raza Abidi to po­lice on two-day phys­i­cal re­mand Thurs­day.

Ear­lier, po­lice had ar­rested Abidi from Supreme Court premises af­ter his ap­pear­ance in a con­tempt of court case on Wed­nes­day.

Abidi had been held in a case reg­is­tered at sec­re­tar­iat po­lice sta­tion against him. The case had been reg­is­tered un­der sec­tion 780-A in­volv­ing abet­ment, ter­ror­ism charges on com­plaint of As­sis­tant Sub-In­spec­tor (ASI) Shaukat.

On the other hand, Is­lam­abad High Court ( IHC) also has re­jected Faisal Raza Abidi's plea to dis­miss the con­tempt of court case reg­is­tered against him over ridi­cul­ing Chief Jus­tice of Pak­istan and anti- ju­di­ciary re­marks in me­dia.

The ex-sen­a­tor was on bail till Oct 11 in the in­stant case in Supreme Court over use of deroga­tory lan­guage about Chief Jus­tice of Pak­istan (CJP) Saqib Nisar and anti-ju­di­ciary re­marks on TV chan­nels.

Faisal Raza Abidi is also booked in a cy­ber crime case. - NNI
