Seoul des­ig­nates Pak as 'pri­or­ity part­ner' for eco­nomic coop

IS­LAM­ABAD: Pak­istan was des­ig­nated as a "pri­or­ity part­ner" on Thurs­day for the Korean Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment Co­op­er­a­tion.

In the 10th round of Pak­istanSouth Korea bi­lat­eral pol­icy con­sul­ta­tions, the two coun­tries agreed to en­hance bi­lat­eral eco­nomic co­op­er­a­tion.

For­eign Sec­re­tary Tehmina Jan­jua led Pak­istan's del­e­ga­tion com­pris­ing Am­bas­sador to Repub­lic of Korea Rahim Ha­yar Qureshi and Direc­tor Gen­eral East Asia Pa­cific Sam­ina Me­htab while South Korean Vice-Min­is­ter for For­eign Af­fairs Cho Hyun rep­re­sented the repub­lic in the meet­ing held

Thurs­day.

Prior to the meet­ing, Jan­jua met with her coun­ter­part Kang Kyung-Wha and dis­cussed closer co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two friendly coun­tries. They re­viewed "gamut of bi­lat­eral re­la­tions and iden­ti­fied op­por­tu­ni­ties and pos­si­bil­i­ties for fur­ther deep­en­ing the re­la­tions in all fields es­pe­cially in the spheres of trade, in­vest­ment, ed­u­ca­tion, cul­ture and par­lia­men­tary ex­changed."

The two sides de­lib­er­ated over high level vis­its to Pak­istan to es­tab­lish closer ties. The mat­ter per­tain­ing to re­gional se­cu­rity sit­u­a­tion in

in Seoul on the South Asia and Korean Penin­sula were also dis­cussed with Pak­istan's del­e­ga­tion em­pha­sis­ing on the res­o­lu­tion of the Kash­mir dis­pute.

On the side­lines of the talks, Jan­jua also in­ter­acted with mem­bers of the Pak­istani com­mu­nity and thanked them for con­tribut­ing in the dam fund.

Later on, the 10th Round of Pak­istan-Repub­lic of Korea Bi­lat­eral Pol­icy Con­sul­ta­tions was also held.
