Moot to highlight importance of halal products
ISLAMABAD: The first Global Halal Congress (GHC) would be held in Karachi on Saturday, December 4 with an aim to create awareness about the halal products in the world with special focus on nonMuslim countries.
As many as 25 world renowned and eminent scholars, scientist and experts from 17 countries are scheduled to participate in the moot organized by Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC), according to press statement issued by the Ministry of Industries and Production here on Friday.
The moot would help introducing Pakistan as the Halal Hub of the region and the concept of "Halal Pakistan" brand in the world, it said adding the other major programme of HDC is to increase its exports for Muslim brethren living in America, Africa, Australia and Europe.
The Grand Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Dr Mustafa Ceric will be chief guest who would also deliver a lecture on Halal economy whereas Speaker National Assembly, Dr. Fahmida Mirza will preside over the morning inaugural session and Federal Minister for Livestock, H Aziz Kurd would be special guest of honour on the occasion to give a key note address.
Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani would be the chief guest of the concluding session of the moot, the press release added.
The Congress would be held in three specialized phases. The First phase would focused on Halal food, second on halal non-food ( halal Cosmetics and Pharma) while the third phase would discuss halal services sector (Islamic Banking, Finance and Halal Tourism). -App
