11 alleged terrorists of TTP killed in 10 months
KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Division (CID) has eliminated 11 alleged terrorists and arrested 66 militants associated with Tehreek-eTaliban Pakistan during last 10 months in Karachi.
According to a statement of the Home Department issued, on Friday, the proactive strategy of the Police Department resulted in busting the criminal gangs and helped considerably dwindled street crimes such as vehicle and cell phone snatching in the megapolis.
The report compiled by Provincial Home Department and submitted to Sindh Home and Prisons Minister. Dr. Zulifiqar Ali Mirza, further stated that during the 10 months of the current year, the CID police also recovered 352.5 kgs high explosive material, 85 detonators, 100 hand grenade, rocket launchers, 11 live bombs, 2 suicide jackets and 229 sophisticated weapons.
In a separate overall Sindh Crime Review from Jan 1, 2010 upto November 15, at least 2231 encounters with dacoits took place throughout the province, 152 dacoits killed, 8314 dacoits arrested, 2828 proclaimed offenders arrested, 37259 absconder arrested and 117 abductees were recovered by the police. The Police also recovered a total of 10170 illicit arms from the possession of dacoits and other criminals. Moreover, one rocket launcher, 659 AK rifles/sten gun, 117 shot guns, 8037 pistols/revolvers, 305 rifles, 51 hand grenades, 194 carbines,413 daggers and 58041 cartridges were recovered. -App
