Pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sures to cur­tail dengue fever

PESHAWAR: Vice Chan­cel­lor Khy­ber Med­i­cal Uni­ver­sity (KMU) Dr. Muham­mad Hafizul­lah on Fri­day said that dengue fever could be cur­tailed only through pub­lic aware­ness and pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sures.

He expressed these views while speak­ing as a chief guest at work­shop or­ga­nized by KMU in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Depart­ment and World Health Or­ga­ni­za­tion (WHO).

Dr. Hafizul­lah un­der­scored the need for pub­lic aware­ness about the dengue dis­ease say­ing that it was a fa­tal dis­ease and pre­cau­tion mea­sures should be adopted to avoid it.

He said that KMU has taken an ini­tia­tive to col­lect of­fi­cials of KP

health depart­ment and WHO with a view to cur­tail dengue fever and raise aware­ness about the dis­ease among the masses.

Be­sides WHO Rep­re­sen­ta­tive in Pak­istan, Dr. Za­reef Khan, Man­ager Malaria Con­trol Pro­gram KPK, Dr. Khalid and Deputy Di­rec­tor Pro­vin­cial Health Ser­vices Academy, Dr. Muham­mad Za­heen Khan also spoke on the oc­ca­sion. -App
