Seeds distribution, water schemes in Orakzai Agency completed
PESHAWAR: The government has completed several water and seeds distribution schemes to improve the socioeconomic conditions of tribesmen of Orkzai Agency.
To support farmers of floods and militancy affected areas, the government has distributed wheat seeds and fertilizers amongst 2000 affected farmers of Orakzai Agency to bolster economy of poor tribesmen.
Two drinking water schemes have also been completed in the area for provision of clean drinking water to tribal people, said a press statement of FATA secretariat here on Sunday.
In floods and conflict affected areas of Orakzai Agency, the government has provided 2000 bags with 50kg weight of quality wheat seeds and 2000 bags (50 Kg) of fertilizer to 2000 affected farmers of Orakzai Agency.
The recent catastrophic floods and conflict situation have affected most of the agricultural land and large stores of seeds were washed away or destroyed in the area and therefore the Government has supported the farmers by providing quality wheat seeds and fertilizers to farmers affected by the natural catastrophe.
This scheme will not only benefit the farmers but will also increase wheat production in the area.
Two drinking water schemes have also completed in Tooto Bagh and Anghalai villages of Orakzai. In Anghalai village three water storage tanks and a filtration tanks were constructed while 1219 meters long galvanized iron distribution pipes was installed.
Likewise in Tooti Bagh village of Orakzai Agency three storage tanks and a pump house was constructed and 101 meter deep tube well excavated. Similarly, 976 meter long distribution pipeline and a submersible machine have also been provided for provision of clean drinking water to the local communities. These development schemes will benefit thousands of locals in Orakzai Agency. -App
