UNIFEM, Oxfam to ink accord to end violence
ISLAMABAD: The United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and Oxfam GB have agreed to help formulate and implement laws and policies to protect women and girls from violence in Pakistan.
The two international organizations will sign a threeyear agreement on Dec 6 to combine Oxfam GB's experience of community work and UNIFEM's expertise in promoting women rights at policy and legislative level in the country.
They will carry out all possible efforts to prevent violence against women and girls in the country whether at home, work or in their wider communities, thus enabling them to practice their rights.
Oxfam GB, and UNIFEM working for protecting and empowering women across the world, will collaborate to eliminate violence against women by working to support ongoing changes and reforms on the way women and their rights are viewed in society as well as improving the implementation and application of national commitments on women's rights by law enforcement bodies at local, provincial and national level.
