Con­fer­ence seeks sup­port to re­search ac­tiv­i­ties

KARACHI: The par­tic­i­pants of 10th Bi­en­nial Con­fer­ence of Pak­istan So­ci­ety for Bio­chem­istry and Molec­u­lar Bi­ol­ogy (PSBMB) called for con­tin­ued un­hin­dered sup­port to re­search ac­tiv­i­ties in the uni­ver­si­ties in the coun­try.

The 5-day con­fer­ence con­cluded here Sun­day at the Dr. A.Q. Khan In­sti­tute of Biotech­nol­ogy and Ge­netic Eug­i­neer­ing (KIBGE), Uni­ver­sity of Karachi.

The con­fer­ence urged the au­thor­i­ties that the re­sources for higher ed­u­ca­tion should not only be con­tin­ued un­hin­dered but fur­ther en­hanced to en­sure the growth and qual­ity of sci­en­tific re­search which is vi­tal for the devel­op­ment and im­prov­ing the qual­ity of life of com­mon men in the coun­try.

Prof. Jawaid Altaf Baig, Pres­i­dent PSBMB, Prof. M. Wa­heed Akhtar. Gen­eral Sec­re­tary PSBMB, Prof. Per­vaiz Iqbal of the Aga Khan Uni­ver­sity, Prof Muham­mad lshaq of Sir Syed Med­i­cal Col­lege and Dr. Younus Barozai of Baluchis­tan Uni­ver­sity ad­dressed the gen­eral body of PSBMB and ac­knowl­edged the health­ier fund­ing for sci­ence and re­search ac­tiv­i­ties in re­cent years that has cre­ated a con­ducive en­vi­ron­ment for sci­en­tific ac­tiv­ity. -App
