PA ad­mits mo­tion on price hike for de­bate

PESHAWAR: The Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Assem­bly Mon­day ad­mit­ted an ad­journ­ment mo­tion for hold­ing de­bate on the spi­ral of the price hike and its ef­fects on the peo­ple.

The JUI-F leg­is­la­tor from Karak, Ma­lik Mo­ham­mad Qasim di­verted the at­ten­tion of the grow­ing in­crease in the prices of the es­sen­tial house­hold items through an ad­journ­ment mo­tion. The leg­is­la­tor in his ad­journ­ment mo­tion said that the con­tin­u­ous price hike had pushed the es­sen­tial house hold items out of the reach of the com­mon man. He said that the sky rock­et­ing price is forc­ing the peo­ple to com­mit sui­cide.

He said that ad­min­is­tra­tions are lack­ing con­trol on the prices of the es­sen­tials and there is no mech­a­nism for keep­ing check on the grow­ing prices.

He de­manded of the govern­ment for keep­ing strict check on the fix­ing of the prices of the es­sen­tials, say­ing that two time meal has be­come dif­fi­cult for the peo­ple. In re­sponse to the ad­journ­ment mo­tion of the JUIF, Se­nior Min­is­ter Bashir Ah­mad Bilour said that they are fully aware of the prob­lem and re­quested the Speaker, Ki­ra­mat­ul­lah Khan for ad­mit­ting the mo­tion for de­tailed dis­cus­sion. The Deputy Speaker, Khush Dil Khan di­verted the at­ten­tion of the house to­wards the poor per­for­mance of the Stand­ing Com­mit­tee on Health, Dr. Haider Ali, who he said con­stantly re­mains abroad. He re­quested the re­place­ment of the chair­man of the com­mit­tee concerned to im­prove the per­for­mance of the body. -App
