Ulema urged to pro­mote re­li­gious har­mony

IS­LAM­ABAD: Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker Na­tional Assem­bly has urged Ulema and re­li­gious schol­ars to play their due role and in­flu­ence in pro­mot­ing re­li­gious har­mony and spread­ing mes­sage of Is­lam.

"Let us make a re­solve to­day to give up the our dif­fer­ences and get united to de­velop com­pre­hen­sive strat­egy for com­bat­ing ter­ror­ism and elim­i­nat­ing sec­tar­i­an­ism, mil­i­tancy and ex­trem­ism from the coun­try" she said.

In her mes­sage on the ad­vent of Mo­har­ram-ul-Haram be­ing ob­served from Wed­nes­day the Speaker said that Is­lam is re­li­gion of peace, love and tol­er­ance and ab­hor all forms of sec­tar­i­an­ism, ex­trem­ism and prej­u­dices.

She urged the nation to forge unity among their ranks, shun all types of dif­fer­ence and sup­ple­ment govern­ment ef­forts for en­sur­ing peace in the coun­try dur­ing the Holy month of Mo­har­ram.

Fah­mida Mirza said that Kar­bala in­ci­dent urged the Mus­lim Ummah that they should not to hes­i­tate to sac­ri­fice for the pro­mo­tion of the sub­lime prin­ci­ples of Is­lam even if it mean to ly­ing down their lives.

More­over, Fehmida Mirza has said that she will fully sup­port the pass­ing of bill for mar­ket­ing and pro­mo­tion of Ha­lal food in the Na­tional Assem­bly. She asked TDAP to pre­pare a draft in this re­gard on the ba­sis of rec­om­men­da­tions of the congress and con­sul­ta­tion with other stake­hold­ers in Ha­lal food sec­tor in the coun­try. Dr Fehmida Mirza un­der­lined the need to get a due share for Pak­istan in the global Ha­lal mar­ket. -App
