Ulema urged to promote religious harmony
ISLAMABAD: Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly has urged Ulema and religious scholars to play their due role and influence in promoting religious harmony and spreading message of Islam.
"Let us make a resolve today to give up the our differences and get united to develop comprehensive strategy for combating terrorism and eliminating sectarianism, militancy and extremism from the country" she said.
In her message on the advent of Moharram-ul-Haram being observed from Wednesday the Speaker said that Islam is religion of peace, love and tolerance and abhor all forms of sectarianism, extremism and prejudices.
She urged the nation to forge unity among their ranks, shun all types of difference and supplement government efforts for ensuring peace in the country during the Holy month of Moharram.
Fahmida Mirza said that Karbala incident urged the Muslim Ummah that they should not to hesitate to sacrifice for the promotion of the sublime principles of Islam even if it mean to lying down their lives.
Moreover, Fehmida Mirza has said that she will fully support the passing of bill for marketing and promotion of Halal food in the National Assembly. She asked TDAP to prepare a draft in this regard on the basis of recommendations of the congress and consultation with other stakeholders in Halal food sector in the country. Dr Fehmida Mirza underlined the need to get a due share for Pakistan in the global Halal market. -App
