Stu­dents protest against pri­vati­sa­tion of col­leges

LA­HORE: The stu­dents of Is­lami Jamiat Ta­l­aba staged a protest in front of Pun­jab Assem­bly premises against pri­va­ti­za­tion of ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions; the demo soon turned into a vi­o­lent show, Geo News re­ported Wed­nes­day.

The stu­dents at­tempted to pull down the Assem­bly gate; how­ever, the po­lice ba­ton­charged to break them up.

The stu­dents went on ram­page and broke some chairs, ta­bles and other fur­ni­ture ly­ing out­side the Assem­bly.

The stu­dents raised fullthroated slo­gans against the govern­ment in protest against pri­va­ti­za­tion and in­stalling Boards of Gov­er­nors at ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions

In this en­tire mean­time, the stu­dents kept pelt­ing stones at po­lice and Assem­bly build­ing.

The stu­dents trans­gressed into the Assem­bly's premises how­ever, they could not make into the main hall thanks to heavy con­tin­gents of po­lice.
