LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) distributed cheques of Rs 30.5 million among 4,800 affectees of Double Shah Scam at a ceremony held here Thursday to mark the International Anti-corruption Day. DG NAB Punjab Justice (r) Rana Zahid Mehmood distributed the cheques among the victims.

Addressing on the occasion, he said that it was unfortunate that many graduates and bureaucrats of grade-22 had also deposited their amount to Double Shah for doubling.

He claimed that "White Collar Crime" is increasing in the society due to poverty, greed and negligence from the teachings of Islam.

He urged the philanthropists to spend their extra money on social welfare programmes and launch new projects for the prosperity of the poor instead of waisting by deposting it in fake schemes.

He said that the process of accountability should be continued in the country and dishonest officers should be suspended the amounts of taxes could be spent on social welfare projects. -App
