Mea­sures taken to avoid fog re­lated ac­ci­dents

LA­HORE: Na­tional High­ways & Mo­tor­way Po­lice (NH&MP) have started adopt­ing ex­tra­or­di­nary pre­ven­tive mea­sures to avoid fog-re­lated ac­ci­dents. In past, fog has been a fore­most cause of grave ac­ci­dents on high­ways and nu­mer­ous lives were lost. In or­der to en­sure a free flow of traf­fic on na­tional high­ways, rules have been set which are re­quired to be im­ple­mented in let­ter and spirit.

Dr Wasim Kauser In­spec­tor Gen­eral NH&MP said this while pre­sid­ing over a high level meet­ing about ar­range­ments of NH&MP up­com­ing dense fog weather on na­tional high­ways & mo­tor­ways here on Sun­day. DIG Syed Ibne Hus­sain also briefed the IG about spe­cial ar­range­ments and de­ploy­ment of ex­tra mo­biles.

The IG NH&MP fur­ther said that the motto "Safety First" should be kept in mind and be­fore board­ing a ve­hi­cle one should check lights (head­light, rear lights and re­volv­ing lights) and wipers. De­fog­gers should be used fre­quently to clear the wind­screen, rear screen and back view mir­ror of a ve­hi­cle. He fur­ther said that NH&MP ve­hi­cles will play the hard shoul­der with all lights switched on. Hoot­ers should be used fre­quently.

NH&MP of­fi­cers must be sta­tioned at all toll plazas, in­ter­changes and en­try points and im­parts nec­es­sary brief­ing to the driv­ers re­gard­ing safety mea­sures and speed limit etc. -App
