Govt em­barks on pro­gramme for spe­cial chil­dren, says CM

PESHAWAR: Chief Min­is­ter Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said the govern­ment has em­barked on pro­gramme aimed at pro­vid­ing bet­ter op­por­tu­ni­ties to spe­cial and or­phan chil­dren to take full ad­van­tage of their tal­ents. The Chief Min­is­ter un­der­lined the need for in­te­grated ef­forts for bet­ter ser­vice to or­phans and needy chil­dren to bring them into na­tional main­stream of life. He expressed the views af­ter in­au­gu­rat­ing a newly block at Al-Is­lah Homes at Sheikh Mal­toon Town Mar­dan con­structed at cost of Rs. six mil­lion with fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance of KPK Govern­ment.

"Or­phan chil­dren need spe­cial at­ten­tion and as such we need to care and nur­ture them so that they can grow up into re­spon­si­ble adults ca­pa­ble of con­tribut­ing to na­tional devel­op­ment," said the Chief Min­is­ter He said it is for this rea­son that Govern­ment will re­main com­mit­ted to im­prov­ing the lives of the young ones, es­pe­cially chil­dren with spe­cial needs so that they con­trib­ute mean­ing­fully to the eco­nomic devel­op­ment of the coun­try when they grow up.

Hoti urged phi­lan­thropists to do­nate as much as pos­si­ble in re­lief projects of govern­ment for bet­ter ser­vice to or­phans, spe­cial peo­ple and poor at large. The govern­ment is well-aware of prob­lems of these chil­dren and bet­ter ed­u­ca­tion, health and other ba­sic fa­cil­i­ties of life would be pro­vided to them.

He said the civil so­ci­ety should also come for­ward for as­sis­tance of or­phan and spe­cial chil­dren. The spe­cial chil­dren and or­phans de­served full sup­port and as­sis­tance from ev­ery quar­ters and govern­ment will pro­vide all fa­cil­i­ties to them de­spite fi­nan­cial con­straints.

The Chief Min­is­ter ap­pre­ci­ated the ef­forts of man­age­ment of Al-Is­lah Cen­tre Mar­dan for wel­fare of or­phans and chil­dren and an­nounced Rs. five mil­lion grant for it and as­sured for its ex­ten­sion. The peo­ple who are par­tic­i­pat­ing in re­lief pro­grames are for­tu­nate and ap­pre­ci­ated the fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance of peo­ple con­tribut­ing for as­sis­tance of re­lief or­ga­ni­za­tions. Spe­cial chil­dren are an in­te­gral part of the so­ci­ety and they are play­ing im­por­tant role in progress, pros­per­ity and devel­op­ment of the coun­try. The Chief Min­is­ter lauded the role of so­cial and wel­fare or­ga­ni­za­tions for ad­dress­ing is­sues of or­phans and vul­ner­a­ble sec­tions of so­ci­ety. Ap­pre­ci­at­ing the con­tri­bu­tion of wel­fare of or­phans, spe­cial chil­dren and poor, he said the govern­ment is serv­ing peo­ple with­out any dis­crim­i­na­tion and lauded the ef­forts of So­cial Wel­fare Depart­ment of Khy­ber Pak­thunkhwa for the same. Se­nior of­fi­cials and ANP lead­ers were also present on this oc­ca­sion. -App
