PAC con­cerns over non com­pli­ance of MoD

IS­LAM­ABAD: The Mon­i­tor­ing and Im­ple­men­ta­tion Com­mit­tee of Pub­lic Ac­count Com­mit­tee (PAC) on Mon­day expressed se­ri­ous con­cern over non-com­pli­ance of its di­rec­tives and rec­om­men­da­tions by Min­istry of De­fense ( MoD) re­gard­ing re­cov­er­ies of unau­tho­rized ex­pen­di­tures dur­ing fis­cal year 2005-06. "More than one year have gone but only few di­rec­tives of PAC were be­ing im­ple­mented," the com­mit­tee ob­served. The Mon­i­tor­ing & Im­ple­men­ta­tion Com­mit­tee of Pub­lic Ac­count Com­mit­tee met at Par­lia­ment house un­der the Chair­per­son­ship of Yas­meen Rehman to re­view whether its di­rec­tives re­gard­ing im­ple­men­ta­tion of Min­istry of De­fence for the fis­cal year of 2005-06 were be­ing car­ried out or not.

PAC also expressed its con­cern over unau­tho­rized ap­point­ment of con­sul­tant in Civil Avi­a­tion Author­ity which caused a loss of Rs 3.7 mil­lion to ex­che­quer of Civil Avi­a­tion Author­ity and di­rected the Prin­ci­pal Ac­count­ing Of­fi­cer of Min­istry of De­fence Na­j­mul Has­san to pur­sue the mat­ter at the De­part­men­tal Ac­counts Com­mit­tee (DAC) level and fix re­spon­si­bil­ity of par­tic­u­lar per­son and re­port the com­mit­tee within two weeks.

Re­gard­ing the ir­reg­u­lar ex­pen­di­tures on con­struc­tion of a bun­ga­low, the PAC di­rected the PAO to make rules and reg­u­la­tions to solve these type of is­sues within three months. The meet­ing was at­tended by MNA Syed Haider Ab­bas Rizwi, Saeed Ah­mad Zaf­far, Ad­di­tional sec­re­tary of min­istry of de­fence civil Avi­a­tion Author­ity and au­dit of­fi­cials. -App
