Mea­sures taken to main­tain poppy-free sta­tus

IS­LAM­ABAD: Min­istry of Nar­cotics Con­trol (MoNC) has taken sig­nif­i­cant mea­sures to main­tain poppy free sta­tus of the coun­try. Fed­eral Min­is­ter for Nar­cotics Con­trol, Arbab Muham­mad Zahir in­formed APP that the ob­jec­tive of mak­ing home­land free of poppy cul­ti­va­tion is be­ing achieved with co­op­er­a­tion of el­ders of the tribal ar­eas. He said in­fra­struc­ture devel­op­ment has pro­vided ac­cess to the tribes for bet­ter ed­u­ca­tion and im­proved health fa­cil­i­ties and lit­er­acy rate es­pe­cially among fe­males has im­proved sig­nif­i­cantly.

The ini­tia­tives taken by the MoNC in col­lab­o­ra­tion with tribes are highly ap­pre­ci­ated by the In­ter­na­tional com­mu­nity as the tribal heads are not only try­ing to main­tain poppy free sta­tus of the coun­try but also play­ing vi­tal role in curb­ing drug traf­fick­ing. He said that govern­ment is tak­ing ap­pro­pri­ate steps to ad­dress drugs de­mand re­duc­tion. -App
