UNB signs MoU with Zakat Fund
BUBAI: Union National Bank (UNB), one of the leading banks in the UAE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zakat Fund enabling UNB customers for the first time to contribute to Zakat through electronic channels. In addition to financing the cost of all required technical support, UNB will develop the new IT infrastructure necessary for collecting Zakat on behalf of the fund.
Through the introduced new electronic zakat payment services, UNB customers can pay different types of Zakat, being Zakat Mal, Sadaqa, and Zakat Fitr. The initial stage will include the payment facilities through UNB's Online Banking - Uninet, where the services will be extended to the ATM Banking & IVR channels in a later stage.
The MoU was signed at UNB Head office in the presence of Mr. Mohammad Nasr Abdeen UNB CEO and H.E. Abdulla Bin Uqaeda Al Muhairy General Secretariat of Zakat the Fund. The ceremony was attended by high dignitaries and top management from both organizations.
Mohammad Nasr Abdeen, UNB CEO, commented, "We are pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Zakat Fund. This facility is an added value to our customers as it will facilitate their fulfillment to one of the main pillars of Islam (Zakat)."
