LAHORE: The business community has urged the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif to take up the matter of gas suspension to the Punjab industry with the Prime Minister and play his role to get this issue resolved as the industry of Punjab was on death bed.

In a joint press statement issued here Tuesday, Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Vice Chairmen Iqbal Baig Chughtai, Shahzeb Akram, Lahore Township Industries Association Chaudhry Zaheer Bhutta, Senior Vice Chairman Shahzad Mughal, Chairman Ferozepur Road Atari Industrial Association Shahid Baig and President Kahna Kacha Industrial Association Mehmood Akhtar said that discrimination with Punjab in gas supply had not only put the living of thousands families on stake but also wrecking the economy of this largest province of the country.

They said that thousands hundreds industrial units had closed down their operations and thousands industrial workers had lost their employment and if the situation remains same, peace could be at risk.

They said that anti-industry attitude of SNGPL authorities was pushing the industry towards annihilation.

They said that the exporters were losing their exports orders as the gas suspension to the Punjab industry has halted the production process and days were not so far when the Punjab would become a trading place instead of manufacturing hub.

They urged the Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to play their role for early restoration of gas supply to the Punjab industry and save million people from starvation.
