Govt, op­po­si­tion and nation united on Sino-Pak friend­ship

IS­LAM­ABAD: Govern­ment and the op­po­si­tion may have dif­fer­ences but when it comes to the is­sue of Sino-Pak friend­ship they stand united with una­nim­ity of views over the deep-rooted ties be­tween the two coun­tries. Leader of the op­po­si­tion in the House Chaud­hary Nisar Ali Khan said while ex­tend­ing a warm wel­come to the vis­it­ing Chi­nese Premier Wen Ji­abao in the Par­lia­ment on Sun­day.

"We may have a lot of prob­lems, but there is one is­sue on which there is no prob­lem, no con­tro­versy, no dif­fer­ence of opin­ion and that is friend­ship with China," he said. He in­vited the Chi­nese to go to ev­ery nook and corner of Pak­istan and meet the peo­ple, who would tell them that 'China was a great friend of Pak­istan.'

He de­scribed the Sino-Pak friend­ship as a legacy that would be passed on to gen­er­a­tions to come: "Your (Chi­nese Premier) each word is in our me­mory, in our heart and it would be in fu­ture legacy."

He said Pak­istan con­sid­ered China a great friend: "We (would) fol­low what you said about Pak­istan, and also fol­low what you have said in the speech which would be a new bench mark for our friend­ship," he said.

Ch. Nisar said Pak­istan felt proud about the progress China has made and that Pak­istan would act upon the ad­vise given by the Chi­nese Premier. "God will­ing Pak­istan is go­ing to rise again," he added.

He be­ing Op­po­si­tion Leader as well as mem­ber of Na­tional Assem­bly wel­comed the Chi­nese Premier. This au­gust house (Par­lia­ment) he said, had set new di­men­sion to Pak-China re­la­tion­ship and a new bench mark for the fu­ture of Sino-Pak re­la­tion. "This is a truly a his­toric oc­ca­sion be­cause a true and a trusted friend of Pak­istan has come be­fore the House, which rep­re­sents ev­ery seg­ment of pub­lic opin­ion in Pak­istan.

Prime Min­is­ter you are not just a nor­mal friend of Pak­istan. You are a self­less, time tested friend, who had helped Pak­istan at ev­ery cri­sis. A friend whom we can de­pend upon and a friend who is to­tally trusted.

I would like to stand up here be­fore you and this au­gust house and salute you, salute the Chi­nese lead­er­ship, salute the peo­ple of China and your great coun­try for great friend­ship that you have with us," Ch. Nisar said. More­over, Speaker Na­tional Assem­bly Dr. Fehmida Mirza Sun­day said that the Sino-Pak re­la­tions are deeply imbed­ded in the hearts and minds of our two na­tions as this friend­ship has with­stood many tests over the years. -App
