Govt, opposition and nation united on Sino-Pak friendship
ISLAMABAD: Government and the opposition may have differences but when it comes to the issue of Sino-Pak friendship they stand united with unanimity of views over the deep-rooted ties between the two countries. Leader of the opposition in the House Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan said while extending a warm welcome to the visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in the Parliament on Sunday.
"We may have a lot of problems, but there is one issue on which there is no problem, no controversy, no difference of opinion and that is friendship with China," he said. He invited the Chinese to go to every nook and corner of Pakistan and meet the people, who would tell them that 'China was a great friend of Pakistan.'
He described the Sino-Pak friendship as a legacy that would be passed on to generations to come: "Your (Chinese Premier) each word is in our memory, in our heart and it would be in future legacy."
He said Pakistan considered China a great friend: "We (would) follow what you said about Pakistan, and also follow what you have said in the speech which would be a new bench mark for our friendship," he said.
Ch. Nisar said Pakistan felt proud about the progress China has made and that Pakistan would act upon the advise given by the Chinese Premier. "God willing Pakistan is going to rise again," he added.
He being Opposition Leader as well as member of National Assembly welcomed the Chinese Premier. This august house (Parliament) he said, had set new dimension to Pak-China relationship and a new bench mark for the future of Sino-Pak relation. "This is a truly a historic occasion because a true and a trusted friend of Pakistan has come before the House, which represents every segment of public opinion in Pakistan.
Prime Minister you are not just a normal friend of Pakistan. You are a selfless, time tested friend, who had helped Pakistan at every crisis. A friend whom we can depend upon and a friend who is totally trusted.
I would like to stand up here before you and this august house and salute you, salute the Chinese leadership, salute the people of China and your great country for great friendship that you have with us," Ch. Nisar said. Moreover, Speaker National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza Sunday said that the Sino-Pak relations are deeply imbedded in the hearts and minds of our two nations as this friendship has withstood many tests over the years. -App
