Enquiry body refutes allegations of Raja Riaz
LAHORE: The enquiry committee in response to the statement of Raja Riaz Ahmad, Minster for Irrigation & Power, that an unauthorized canal had been dug in the area of district Chiniot, has released its report according to which the statement of the minister "was not based on facts".
Kazim Ali Malik, Director General, Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab and Syed Mansoob Ali Zaidi Secretary (Retd) I&P Department, Punjab was member of the committee.
According to the report, the Chief Minister Punjab through a No t i f ica t ion No.PS/SCM.CM3/(D)-10/OT4®75136, dated August 30, 2010, had constituted an Enquiry Committee to probe the statement of Raja Riaz Ahmad, Minster for Irrigation & Power, Government of the Punjab, carried by print media whereby the worthy Minister had alleged that Ramzan Sugar Mills, Chiniot had dug unauthorized canal within the area of District Chiniot. The Enquiry Committee requested the Minister to arrange his representation at the time of spot inspection and enquiry proceedings scheduled to be held / conducted on October 02, 2010. In response to this request, the Minister appointed Syed Hassan Murtaza, MPA as his representative. On October 02, 2010 at about 10.45 AM, the enquiry committee reached Chiniot and held a meeting with Syed Hassan Murtaza, MPA in the office of DCO Chiniot. The representative of the Minister was confronted with the above said allegation made by the Minister through print media and was asked to point out the unauthorized canal allegedly dug out by Ramzan Sugar Mills. -Pr
