ANKARA: To­tal as­sets of Turk­ish banks rose to 932 bil­lion lira in Oc­to­ber 2010 as fi­nan­cial an­a­lysts ex­pect it to reach 1.5 tril­lion lira in the next three or four years. Bank­ing Reg­u­la­tion and Su­per­vi­sion Agency (BDDK), thinks growth of Turk­ish bank­ing in­dus­try would con­tinue in com­ing years. BDDK Chair­man Tev­fik Bil­gin says the size of to­tal as­sets is likely to ex­ceed 1 tril­lion lira in the first quar­ter of 2011. Banks' prof­its also rose by 7.6 per­cent year-on-year to 18.7 bil­lion lira in Oc­to­ber 2010, ac­cord­ing to unascer­tained tem­po­rary data pro­vided by BDDK last week. -PB News
