Char­ity polo match draws

LA­HORE: The Bank Alfalah and Guard Group played a char­ity polo match hosted by the La­hore Polo Club un­der the ban­ner of an or­gan­i­sa­tion 'Polo the Pak­istan' here at the LPC's Aibak ground the other day.

The match was drawn by 66. Prior to the elec­tri­fy­ing polo en­counter, a tent-peg­ging com­pe­ti­tion was or­gan­ised to en­ter­tain the guests who con­trib­uted by pur­chas­ing the tick­ets for the rehabilitation of the flood af­fectees which dev­as­tated the coun­try in monsoon a few months back.

MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, son of Pun­jab Chief Min­is­ter Mian Shahbaz Sharif, was among the guests of hon­our with Se­nior Ad­vi­sor to the Chief Min­is­ter Sar­dar Zul­fiqar Ali Khan Khosa. Both the teams, who were equal on hand­i­cap of 10, were locked in an even bat­tle through­out the match. The open­ing chukker pro­duced four goals - two each com­ing from Guard Grounp and Bank Alfalah. Later, when the bankers took three goals lead Guard Group re­stored par­ity with three back to back goals.

In the fourth chukker, Bank Alfalah edged ahead with one goal and the Guard rid­ers suc­cess­fully lev­eled the score again. Saqib Khak­wani, Qublai Alam, Taimur Ali Ma­lik and Taimur Mawaz Khan were the scor­ers from Guard Group with two goals apiece. Ah­mad Nawaz Ti­wana, Atif Yar Ti­wana and Sufi Amir added two goals each from Bank Alfalah side.

Sahibzada Musa Gi­lani, son of Prime Min­is­ter Yousuf Raza Gi­lani was also par­tic­i­pated in the match. Se­nior Ad­vi­sor of CM Pun­jab Sar­dar Zul­fiqar Ali Khusa dis­trib­uted the prizes among the play­ers. Mean­while, all the play­ers do­nated their cash prizes for the flood-af­fected peo­ples. -Pr
