Maternal child health care project to be started
KARACHI: A post-flood maternal child healthcare project would be launched in seven districts of Sindh.
This was stated by the officials of the National Trust for Population Welfare (NATPOW) on Thursday.
They pointed out that the Chief Executive Officer of NATPOW, Ifikhar Durrani, and its Director Programme and Development Dr. Nasser Mohyuddin, held a meeting with Secretary Sindh Population Welfare Department Rizwan Memon, Special Secretary Sindh Health Department, Ms. Seema Najeeb, Principal Officer President's Primary Health Initiative (PPHI) Syed Shahid Ali, and Provincial Finance Officer and Administration Manager Sindh, Ajmal Memon.
The main objectives of the meeting was to introduce the NATPOW-UNFPA projects which are t o be l aunched throughout the country. The officials stated that the first project is " Post-flood Maternal Child Health Care Project" which will operate in 20 districts of Pakistan.
In Sindh this project will cover the seven districts, that i s, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Jamshoro, Badin, Thatta and Qambar.
They briefed the stakeholders t hat Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) aim t o i mprove Maternal Health (MDG-5) and Reduce Child Mortality (MDG-4), the parties are convinced t hat closer links and joint collaboration between them would draw upon provision of Mother and Child Healthcare Services, i ncluding Reproductive Health and Family Planning ( RH& FP) and other, in the flood affected areas by reaching the poor and needy people. -App
