CM chairs meet­ing on taxes col­lec­tion

KARACHI: Chief Min­is­ter Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, on Thurs­day presided a high level meet­ing at CM House here in con­nec­tion with col­lec­tion of var­i­ous taxes in the prov­ince of Sindh.

The Chief Min­is­ter Sindh ob­served that the process of col­lec­tion of taxes is less than the tar­get fixed by the Govern­ment and as such it will be im­per­a­tive to have con­certed ef­forts for im­prov­ing the process of col­lec­tion of var­i­ous govern­ment taxes.

He di­rected the concerned de­part­ments to pay full at­ten­tion to­wards gen­er­a­tion of funds so as to meet the needs of var­i­ous devel­op­ment schemes in the prov­ince.

The Chief Min­is­ter stressed upon Rev­enue Depart­ment, Ex­cise and Tax­a­tion Depart­ment and other de­part­ments to pay full at­ten- tion to­wards re­cov­ery of taxes promptly and as such all de­part­ments should un­der­take con­certed ef­forts to in­crease the fi­nan­cial re­sources of the pro­vin­cial govern­ment.

The meet­ing dis­cussed in de­tail the ways and means in this re­gard and evolved strat­egy to meet the chal­lenges.

It was ob­served that due to heavy floods and stormy rains, eleven (11) dis­tricts were badly af­fected in the prov­ince and due to dam­ages to crops, roads, vil­lages; com­mu­ni­ca­tion sys­tem etc; the col­lec­tion of taxes was badly af­fected.
