Pakistan, Turkey have good ties in all fields
ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar has said that the governments and armed forces of Pakistan and Turkey have good cooperation and understanding in all fields.
According to Radio Pakistan, he said Turkey was a trustworthy friend of Pakistan, which wanted a decisive war against terrorism to secure future generations and bring peace in the world.
He said Afghanistan and Central Asian states also wanted to link with train service of Pakistan, Iran and Turkey to reach out Europe.
He said Turkish forces always supported the Pakistan Army. While giving precedent of mutual cooperation between the two countries in recent months, Ahmad Mukhtar said that Turkey provided free of cost guided missiles to Pakistan to fight against terrorists in Swat.
Replying to a question, he said,"Turkish people love Pakistanis and they want to see Pakistan a developed and major economic power". He said that the Turkish government and their armed forces were Pakistan's trustworthy friend.
Replying to another question, Defence Minister said Pakistan was a frontline state against terrorism. "We are fighting this war for own as well as for the world. Pakistan wants to defeat terrorism through decisive a war".
He said,"we have very good relations with Turkish President Abdullah Gul. He always supported President Asif Ali Zardari's idea of mutual cooperation to the best level of two brotherly countries".
He said that the idea of trade by train with the Europe via Pakistan, Iran and Turkey was originally floated by President Asif Ali Zardari.
He said train would take only five days to reach Europe with maximum goods and with less fare. -App
