ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's investment policies are friendly and better than neighbouring countries including, India.

"Our policies are liberal and perfect but the issue is their implementation. We register companies on fast track basis, " said Saleem Mindiviwalla, Chairman of Board of Investment (BOI) and Minister of State, in an interview.

Pakistan, he said, was better than India and ranked 85 out of around 180 countries in conducting business.

He said that all the developing countries have organizations like BOI

with different names. The main objective of BOI is to bring investment related matters in the board in which decisions are not being made in a conventional manner, he added.

Mandiviwalla said that the board resolved those matters and was in coordination with the Prime Minister's office.

"We also address other issues which are not related to investment as an investor can have multiple issues which include law and order problems, infrastructure problems, electricity and other utilities issues. We address multiple issues in different areas to facilitate the investors", he remarked.

Highlighting the present situation of the business and investment in Pakistan and worldwide, he said that currently, the other countries investment in Pakistan was on a decline. The governments were positively intervening in businesses because of the overall slump in the world economy. He observed that the whole capitalist structure has failed worldwide. The BOI Chairman said that it was proved that free market structure has been unsuccessful and there was a need of a new structure. -App
