MoU inked to enhance trade between Punjab and Turkey
LAHORE: A memorandum of understanding was signed between Punjab government and Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey ( TUSKON) for cooperation in trade, industries and other sectors.
The signing ceremony was held at TUSKON Center Istanbul and participated by Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Members Provincial Assembly Kh. Salman Rafique, Kh. Ahmad Hasaan, office-bearers of TUSKON as well as investors.
Under the agreement, a business conference will be held in Lahore in March for signing agreements for increasing cooperation in various sectors.
Member Punjab Assembly Mian Mohsin Latif and President TUSKON Rizanur Meral signed the document on behalf of Punjab government and the confederation respectively.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister said that there are vast opportunities of investment in different sectors in Pakistan especially Punjab.
He said that a favourable atmosphere has been created for investment in the province and maximum facilities are being offered to local and foreign investors.
He said that Punjab and Istanbul can launch joint ventures in various sectors. He welcomed the MoU signed with TUSKON and said that exchange of the visits of delegations will also be made under the agreement.
He said that Mayor of Istanbul has accepted his invitation to visit Lahore while a delegation of the confederation will also attend the conference to be held in Lahore in March.
He said that investors from all over Pakistan will be invited to the conference and a strategy will be evolved for further cooperation in the light of the recommendations of the conference.
President TUSKON Rizanur Meral said that Pakistan is a brotherly Islamic country of Turkey and Turk businessmen are keenly interested in investment in Pakistan.
He said that he will bring a delegation of industrialists to Lahore for attending the conference after completing the homework and a strategy will be evolved for launching joint ventures with Punjab.
Moreover, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif visited Istanbul Museum and was given a rousing welcome by the Governor of Istanbul Hussyin Evni Mutlu on his arrival. A reception was also arranged on this occasion which was attended by Mayor Istanbul Kadir Topbas, Deputy Mayor of Municipality, Members Parliament and a large number of elite of the city. -Pr
