Os­good earns 400th ca­reer win in 4-3 OT vic­tory

DEN­VER: Nik­las Kron­wall scored the game-win­ner with 1:18 re­main­ing in over­time and Chris Os­good stopped a sea­son-high 46 shots in the Detroit Red Wings' 4-3 vic­tory over the Colorado Avalanche on Mon­day night to be­come the 10th goalie in NHL his­tory to reach 400 wins.

Nick­las Lid­strom, Jiri Hudler and Johan Franzen also scored for the Red Wings, who have won three of their past four games.

Os­good was swarmed by team­mates af­ter reach­ing the mile­stone win. The 17-year vet­eran has 316 of his wins with the Red Wings.

Matt Duch­ene scored twice for Colorado and T.J. Galiardi added an­other. The Avs have dropped three straight games.

Kron­wall scored the win­ner on a power play fol­low­ing a trip­ping call on Avs goalie Peter Bu­daj. Late in the third pe­riod, Lid­strom beat Bu­daj with a low wrist shot that looked as if it just might hold up.

But Duch­ene tied it up with 2:36 re­main­ing when he knocked in a re­bound on a power play.

Os­good came up big all game, but no more than in the sec­ond pe­riod when he stopped one point-blank shot af­ter an­other to keep the game tied at 2. He fin­ished with 23 saves in the pe­riod, in­clud­ing a solid back­handed at­tempts by Philippe Dupuis and Adam Foote. So good was Os­good dur­ing a stretch in the mid­dle por­tion of the pe­riod that the Red Wings fans in at­ten­dance at Pepsi Cen­ter be­gan chant­ing "Ozzie," which was quickly greeted by a round of boos. -Ap
