Training is a learning process that involves the acquisition of knowledge, skill and abilities necessary to successfully perform a job.

Where as development is an output of training, which basically starts from employees and leads to organizational development. Some reasons of training are as follows.

1. Economic, social, technological and government changes can make the organization think about learning skills for the employees today which may obsolete in the future.

2. Planned organizational changes (such as introduction of new equipment) can make it necessary for employees to update their skills or acquire new once.

3. Performance problems within an organization such as low productivity or large scrap problems can be reduced through training.

Normally when a new employee joins the organization, it is the primary responsibility of the manager to train the employee according to his job to improve the effective- ness and efficiency of the employee for the better progress of an organization.

Some steps of training who make the employees professional. Start with Job analysis, job analysis identifies the Knowledge, skills and abilities of a job. Training programs should be designed that improves the participant's knowledge, skills and abilities. After that Need training, need assessment is a systematic analysis of the specific training activities that the organization requires to achieve its objectives. For conducting training, the organizations always keep in mind their objectives which they are ultimately going to accomplish by their employees. After training needs have been identified, the objectives must be established for meeting those needs.

Training objectives must be categorized as, instructional objectives, Organizational and departmental objectives, Individual objectives. After the establishing objectives the next step is conduct training program. There are several methods of conducting training. Few of them are, On-job training, Job rotation, Off-job training.
