Busi­ness­man panel sweeps all FPCCI seats in bi­en­nial elec­tion

LA­HORE: The Busi­ness­man Panel, the largest al­liance of traders, on Wed­nes­day for 5th con­sec­u­tive term swept all top slots of Fed­er­a­tion of Pak­istan Cham­bers of Com­merce and In­dus­try (FPCCI),an apex body of cham­bers in the coun­try,in bi­en­nial elec­tion held to­day for next term 2011-2012.

Pres­i­den­tial can­di­date, Sen­a­tor,Haji Ghu­lam Ali from Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa

other can­di­dates for the seats of Vice Pres­i­dents from Pun­jab,Sindh and Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa prov­inces in­clude, Mian Tariq Shafi,Aamir Atta Ba­jwa,Khalid Tawab,Us­man Chakura while its two other can­di­dates for as­so­ci­a­tion class seats namely Fazal Elahi from Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa and Muham­mad Us­man from Sindh re­turned un­op­posed.

Ak­bar Khan, an­other can­di­date of Busi­ness­man Panel for Vice Pres­i­dentship from Pakhtunkhaw prov­ince con­test­ing against cham­ber class seat to­day de­feated his arch ri­val by 40 per cent votes polled while the elec­tion be­tween Ghu­lam Fa­rooq and Dr.M.As­lam from Baluchis­tan for last seat of VP was up­held on the High Court's or­ders.

Vet­eran trade leader,Cochair­man Busi­ness­men Panel,(the rul­ing group in

FPCCI) and Vice Pres­i­dent SAARC CCI Pak­istan chap­ter Iftikhar Ali Ma­lik told news­men to­day that once again en­tire busi­ness com­mu­nity across the coun­try had re­posed full con­fi­dence in the lead­er­ship of busi­ness­man panel (BP) led by Tariq Say­eed for pur­su­ing bet­ter poli­cies and prop­erly safe­guard­ing in­ter­est of traders at lo­cal,na­tional and in­ter­na­tional lev­els. He said that by the grace of Al­lah,BP for the last one decade has been suc­cess­fully ad­vo­cat­ing the just cause of busi­ness com­mu­nity and al­ways up­held the traders in high es­teem.

He said that BP would con­tinue to pro­tect the in­ter­ests of the busi­ness com­mu­nity across the coun­try in a bet­ter way than past. Ma­lik said all can­di­dates were nom­i­nated with con­sen­sus on merit in true demo­cratic man­ner by his group keep­ing in view their pro­fes­sional stand­ing in the pri­vate sec­tor. -App
