4.5 mln students in Sindh to be given books
KARACHI: The Sindh Textbook Board is fully geared to supply text books to 4.5 million children before the start of academic session 2011-2012 in Sindh. This was pointed out by t he Secretary of t he Sindh Textbook Board.
It was also mentioned that the Sindh Text Book Board has purchased the required quantity of printing paper well in time after completion of all codal formalities.
On the recommendations of European Union report: ' Fiduciary and Procurement Risk Assessment on Textbooks' the Sindh Textbook Board has taken initiatives for printing of books as per SPPRA rules from this year.
These reforms implemented by Government of Sindh, Education and Literacy Department, have been appreciated by Joint Review Mission (JRM) of European Union in their appraisal report.
In this regard the Joint Review Mission has also praised the commitment and the role of leadership of Senior Minister for Education, Education Department, Reform Support Unit and Sindh Text Book Board.
Sindh Text Book Board got all t he stakeholder on board including Sindh Public Procurement Regulatory Authority ( SPPRA), Law Department, Reform Support Unit, Education and Literacy Department and representative of European Union and Publishers Association before start of printing process. As many as 62 firms out of a total of 86 bidders were declared pre qualified. -App
