Miller, We­ber lead Sabres over Oilers 4-2

ED­MON­TON, AL­BERTA: Mike We­ber scored his first two NHL goals and Ryan Miller made 29 saves as the Buf­falo Sabres won for the sec­ond time in nine road games, beat­ing the Ed­mon­ton Oilers 4-2 on Tues­day night.

Luke Adam and Jochen Hecht also scored for the Sabres , who also snapped a two-game skid.

We­ber also had an as­sist af­ter hav­ing only four in his first 39 NHL games.

Dustin Pen­ner and Ryan Jones scored for the Oilers, who have dropped four straight and six of seven.

Buf­falo made it a 3-1 three min­utes into the third as Hecht picked the bot­tom corner on Oilers goalie Niko­lai Khabibu­lin for his fourth goal this sea­son.

The Oilers got back into the game three min­utes later when Tom Gil­bert threw a shot on net that de­flected off the skate of Jones and past Miller.

Miller then made a tremen­dous save to deny Ales Hem­sky dur­ing an Oilers power play with eight min­utes left in the game.

We­ber scored into an empty net with 52 sec­onds re­main­ing. Ed­mon­ton got off to a quick start in the first as Hem­sky made an im­me­di­ate im­pact in his re­turn from in­jury. -Reuters
